Montreal Grand Prix

One of the Formula 1 races also takes place every year in Montreal. People in Montreal love the see the exciting race. The restaurants, cafes and malls in Montreal have flags mounted at their doorstep. There are big screens too at these places where people who have not gone to the racing track can see it on screen. People carry banners to support their favorite team. Many streets in the city are barricaded and they are turned into pedestrian malls. The city becomes a giant festival and everyone becomes a part of it.

The F1 race weekend normally begin on Thursday evening. It continues till Sunday afternoon by culminating in the big race. The race takes place at Isle St Helene at the Formula 1 track. The city prides itself on having its own F1 track. Throughout this weekend there are loads of activities to take part in. celebrations continue till the wee hours of the morning. There are lively concerts and other events. People leave their homes to come to the streets and join in the revelry. Many of them gather at a common place to cheer their team. The pubs and the clubs are brimming with patrons.

On Thursday the teams arrive and they are engaged in setting up their pits. Friday is car testing day and there are two on track practice sessions for the car drivers. Saturday is meant for additional practice runs and on Sunday there is the big race. The F1 race all over the world is always kept on Sundays so that more and more people can enjoy the race.
